Attended: Paul Stephen, Peter Duffy and Gary McGrory. Setup and begin by 23:15
Conditions: High thin cloud towest and mist on southern aspect. Still a month away from fully dark skies so not expecting great results. Just testing out the observing site.
Target 1: Jupiter - 2 moons visible on each side of Jupiter. Bands clear.
Target 2: M57 - Ring Nebula - Visible as a faint blob in the 8" scopes but clearly a ring with Peters 12"
Target 3: M31 - Andromeda Galaxy - Just a smudge over the LP area to the east. Poor.
Target 4: M13 - Hercules Cluster - Fair view in the 8" scopes - Once again good view in 12"
Target 5: M71 - In Sagitta - Found in Garys 8"
Target 6: M92 - In Hercules - Fair view in Pauls 8"
Fair bit of mist causing problems. Packed up at 1am.
Site: Good high location with 360 deg uninterupted views. Glasgows LP to the north. Site will be much better when it gets properly dark in a month.
A good evening was had by all, thanks.
